The perfect Passover charoset

The perfect Passover charoset recipe for your holiday table. Charoset is traditionally used to symbolize the mortar the Jews used to build the Pharaoh’s buildings while they were slaves in Egypt. My family can’t get enough of this on fresh matzo during our dinner and long after for snacks!

4 large organic gala apples, chopped into small pieces

2 1/2 cups walnuts, chopped into small pieces

1/4 cup honey

3 tsp cinnamon

1/4 cup sweet wine such as Manischewitz

Toast the walnuts in a pan over medium heat, stirring constantly until toasty, or about 5 minutes. Combine all the ingredients together in a large bowl, and stir until well-combined. Make this ahead by storing in an air-tight container for up to 3 days. Serve with matzo.
